What is ProTask?

The ProTask website operates as an online platform whereby ‘User’ Members may post Jobs inviting ‘Professional’ Members to bid on those Jobs and Professional Members may post information about their skills and make proposals on Jobs posted by Users.

ProTask introduces freelance professionals to individuals and businesses seeking their services. Not only will ProTask help introduce the two parties, but where possible we’ll also provide support to both the Professional and User throughout the transaction. Read more About ProTask.

How does it work?

Businesses or Individuals
Businesses or individuals seeking professional services can register a User account with ProTask and post a Job listing which sets out specific job requirements and the proposed budget.  Our Professional members view the Job listings and then send you tailored quotes for your job. The final decision on who to award the job is then yours to make in your own time. ProTask offers this whole service to you for free!

Finding work through ProTask is a cost efficient way to expand your business and at no cost. Browse our Job listings within each of the ProTask categories and bid against the jobs of your choice. The Protask website will even assist you by giving you access to your own online invoicing system.

How much does it cost?

ProTask does not charge any fees or subscriptions for members to use the site. See our Terms & Conditions.

What happens if we have a dispute with another member?

We find that most disputes arise through a lack of communication between the parties and we offer the following suggestions to help prevent a dispute from arising:

  • Make sure the Job brief is clear and thorough. If you are not sure about any part of the job brief request clarification from the other party;
  • Ensure that both parties are absolutely clear on what the project deliverables are before commencing work on the Job;
  • Always use the Private Message Board to communicate with the relevant User or Professional as this allows you to refer to these communications later for clarification if a dispute does arise;
  • Use the Mediashare Workspace to upload all documents to ensure you have a complete record of the transaction;
  • Consider using a written services agreement1 to record the details of the agreement;
  • Include a dispute resolution procedure in any agreement between the parties*.

* Users and Professionals must look only to the other for enforcement and performance of all the rights and obligations arising from Jobs. ProTask Pty Ltd may at its discretion endeavor to assist (if possible) to resolve disputes between members, however under no circumstances is ProTask responsible for resolving disputes between members.  For more information, please see our Terms & Conditions.

Does ProTask have an Escrow service?

Whilst we would like to provide an escrow service to our members, ProTask is unable to do so at this time as Australian Financial Services legislation requires that to provide an escrow service we must hold an Australian Financial Services License. The cost of obtaining such a licence is such that we do not believe it to be commercially viable at present. Nevertheless as ProTask continues to grow it is anticipated that an escrow service or similar arrangement will become part of the services offered on the site in the future.

Currently we have been unable to find a third party escrow service provider in Australia that is willing to handle large volumes of relatively small transactions. The Banks and Escrow companies contacted by ProTask were only interested in providing escrow services for large transactions such as the purchase of expensive motor vehicles, boats, or property and charge relatively large fees for their services. However, should you represent an Escrow company or are aware of an Escrow company that would be willing to work together with ProTask to offer our members an escrow service, please contact us.

What is PMB?

PMB is your Private Message Board which you can use this to communicate with the other party to your transaction about the project. We suggest you use the PMB as the primary method of communication between the parties for all Jobs so that you can refer back to them later if required.

What is RFP?

RFP is a Request For Proposal or a job auction.

What is a feedback rating?

Through the Feedback and Rating system a Feedback score and comments are left for you by other members of the Site and are used to indicate to other members your reputation as a User or Professional on Protask.
Once an auction event has closed and the transaction has been completed, both the User and Professional will be able to use the feedback and ratings system to evaluate and leave feedback of the overall experience they had with each other.
Users will also be able to use the feedback and rating system to rate a Professional on specific work criteria such as professionalism and communication. See Feedback Score and Rating System.

Can I have both a User account and a Professional account?

We would recommend that if you want to use ProTask to both find work and post work that you register two separate accounts; one as a User and one as a Professional. You will find this will help keep your online activity simple.

Users

How do I post a job?

As a User posting a job couldn’t be easier, just make sure you have registered on the Site as a User then simply click on the Post a Job link. Fill out the form displayed on screen providing as much information as possible about the Job and budget …and by the way, posting a job is Free!!!

I can’t find the correct category to post my job in?

The ProTask categories cover most Job sectors. However, if you want to post a job for a category not shown – then contact us and let us know. If we receive enough demand from new industry sectors then we will be happy to add them to the ProTask job categories.

How much does it cost to post a job?

Posting a job on ProTask is 100% free.

Can I invite professionals to bid on my job?

Yes you can! When you post your job you have the option to add the email address and name of people you would like to invite to bid on your job. You can also customize the email that’s sent out to your preferred Professional.

My job is private and so I don’t want everyone to be able to read it. Can I keep it private and only allow invited parties to see it?

Yes, absolutely when you’re posting your job to the marketplace, make sure you select the Invitation only as the type of event.

How do I pay the Professional?

To pay for completed Jobs visit My ProTask and your Job Management page. When a job is awaiting payment you will see the invoice number appear in the ‘Pay’ column. Click on the invoice number and print out a copy of the invoice generated by the Professional.  You can also view any pending invoices by clicking the Accounting link from within My ProTask.

ProTask is not involved in the invoicing of Users by Professionals. Professionals are solely responsible for collecting payment for completed Jobs from the relevant User. See our Terms & Conditions.

How do I access my PMB (Private Message Board) or Mediashare Work area?

Visit My ProTask and your Jobs Dashboard page. For each job you have posted, you will see icons for the PMB (Private Message Board) and the Mediashare Work area . There is a seperate PMB and Mediashare Work area for each job. We recommend that you document all your communications through these services.

Professionals (applicants)

How many jobs can I bid on?

As many as you like!

Can I upload my portfolio?

Yes, you can upload your portfolio via our Portfolio section.

How do I access my PMB (Private Message Board) or Mediashare Work area?

I cannot find the correct category for my line of work.

If you cannot find the correct category for your Job, please drop us an email to request the addition of a new category.

How do I get paid?

To issue an invoice for a completed Job visit My ProTask and your Job Management page to generate an invoice to the relevant User.

ProTask is not involved in the invoicing of Users by Professionals for completed Jobs or collecting payment for same. Professionals are solely responsible for collecting payment for completed Jobs from the relevant User. See Terms & Conditions.
